Kids Birthday Games

Tips in Choosing and Organizing Kids Birthday Games

The Internet, parents and relatives, even the kids themselves - all of these sources have plenty of ideas about kids' party games for the upcoming birthday party. You can end up with a headache just trying to balance what each one wants against a myriad of other factors so much so that the temptation to just do away with the games is an ever stronger siren call.

Don't give in! Games are the highlight of parties for kids, thanks to their naturally playful nature and, hence, must always be present if you are to organize a successful party for your child.

Stick to the Classics

You can add in original kids birthday games that will challenge the children into doing something new. However, the party time is always limited where kids are concerned so it makes sense to keep them to a minimum so as to lessen the time needed to learn the new game.

The majority of the games should be the classics since these are the fun games that everyone from adults to little kids knows by heart. As such, your guests will be able to enjoy the games without thinking too much if they are doing the correct steps. By the way, classic games include musical chairs, hot potato and pass the present, to name a few.

Practice Oligarchy

You need not be a tyrant when it comes to hosting the kids' party games. Basically, you have to be firm but gentle with the children in following the games set out in advance for their enjoyment. Otherwise, you will face a little mob of protestors, each one having definite ideas of what he/she wants to the opposition of just about everyone else in the group. In short, you have the makings of an unraveling party.

You can always invite the children to play the games by arousing their interest. For example, instead of saying "Do you want to play musical chairs?" say "Who wants to dance and sing and play musical chairs?"

Take Your Time (But Not Too Much)

It is also very important to choose just a handful of kids birthday games instead of filling the entire day with endless games. Your guests will get tired soon enough in both the physical and mental sense and so would you as the masters of games. Besides, you need to give the kids ample time to enjoy the games instead of hurrying them through everything. For example, when playing musical chairs, let the music play for a few minutes instead of pausing it every few seconds. Or let the sack race experience a few turns and twists before coming to an end.

Everybody is a Winner

Probably the most important of the games are the prizes. Little children will appreciate small toys, candies and other kiddy goodies so there is no need to empty your pockets for expensive stuff as prizes for the party games. However, do make sure that even the kids who did not win the top prize also have consolation prizes of their own. This way, they will not feel left out and will also be encouraged to participate in the succeeding games.

Choosing and organizing kids' party games is fun for parents and children alike. It just takes careful planning and a happy heart to enjoy them, too.
