Do you have Nintendo Wii System?

Some of the greatest laughs I've had are a result from Wii Party Games!

When the Nintendo Wii system first came out it was revolutionary. Unlike the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 (which, when it comes down to it only offered better graphics), the Wii changed the way games are played.

The change from the classic controller to the Wiimote and Nunchuck made everyone a beginner.

Players have to perform the real life motion of the action they want in a Nintendo Wii game.

It all really boils down to this idea:

A lot more people understand the concept of moving your feet and hands to hit a ball with a racket then pressing A->Down->Left->B to perform a swinging dive.

Want your character to hit the tennis ball? Swing!

Don't want to get hit with that punch? Jump to the side!

This is why Nintendo Wii System games are for everybody and as the Party Game Guru I recommend them.

The Wii responds to your movements pretty well, but the placement of the sensor bar (which isn't actually the sensor, it emits infrared that the Wiimote detects) and your relation to it is crucial. You'll want to place the sensor bar center of the TV, below or above, and make sure you stay within 15 feet of it. If your guests start complaining that they can't perform an action in a game this is the sensor bar probably got shoved.

While considering logistics, you might want to connect your Nintendo Wii System to the internet.

There also are ways in which you can "cheat" in Wii party games. This usually involves just being lazy and making the experience less enjoyable for everyone.

Here's an example:

In Wii Sports (which comes with the Wii) there is a tennis game. It's simple, when the ball comes your way, swing! Now some people just sit on the couch (if you're tired, just take a break and let someone else play!) and when they should swing they just perform a halfhearted flick of the wrist in no particular direction.

Yeah, it works. But agree with me, that's not as fun.

Get in the party game!

There is so much more fun to be had in these Wii party games if you believe you're there, that you're that Mii with the racket. I find that believing myself to be on the court is always more fun then simply winning. So stand up and give it all you got!

When it comes down to it, fun simple video games are about the experience, not the result. Sure, competition can be fun. But, winning a virtual trophy is nothing compared to a memorable time with friends. Simple fun is the best fun.

Oh, one last important thing...

Make sure everyone puts the wrist strap on securely and keep it on at all times! Enforce the "No Strap. No Play" rule. Broken TVs, fingers, and kitten teeth (it unfortunately has happened) are not fun.
