Sleepover Party Games

Parent-Approved Sleepover Party Games

When girls enter their pre-teens, you will hear more and more requests for sleepovers either in your house or in your daughter's friends' houses. You might worry about the activities being done in the other house but do take into account that this is also how the other parents feel when their kids are in your house.

Well, to alleviate these parents' concerns as well as to provide a good example for them, you can let the girls engage in these two sleepover party games. No worries because these games are good, clean fun!

Murder She Wrote

Despite its name, Murder She Wrote is a game that requires skill in reading subtle facial and body language. You will need slips of paper - as many as there are participants in the game - and a hat to place the slips of paper in. On just one slip of paper, write the word "Murderer" while keeping the others blank.

Now, let each of the sleepover participants choose one slip of paper but instruct them not to show it to the others in the group. The person who picks up the slip of paper with the word "Murderer" on it will proceed to "kill" the others by winking at them. The person being winked at will then count to three, falling to the floor and pretending to be dead.

If someone can identify the murderer by saying "Stop, I know who the killer is" and correctly guesses, she wins the game. Otherwise, she is out of the game.

Skit Me Out of Here

This is one of sleepover party games that will test the imagination of the kids, develop their acting abilities and provide an almost endless source of stories after the activity is finished. Depending on the number of guests to the sleepover, you just need to fill 3-4 large paper bags with various household items, preferably unrelated to each other. Maybe a hairbrush, a spatula, a broken toy and a makeup item will do although you must ensure that each paper bag contains different items from the other bags.

Now, you will divide the participants into groups, one for each bag. You will provide the groups with 15-20 minutes to prepare their scripts and skits based on the things found in their bags. They must use said items as the central points of the scripts. You also need to provide separate areas of the house to allow the groups to plan in private as well as set rules like the time limit of the presentation.

After the preparation time is up, be prepared for plenty of fun as the groups present the most outrageous takes on the items. You should become an impartial judge, regardless of your own daughter's cuteness.

In this regard, it may help to implement criteria for judging although that may be too stiff for the happy occasion. Instead, you can just use the loudness of the claps and bravos to determine the winner of the game. You can even make little statuettes as mini-Oscars!

With these sleepover party games, you can be assured that your daughter and her friends will have a good time in your house. Just remember to feed them well and take all the necessary precautions to ensure their safety and you should be the greatest mom in the world.
